The Fate of Northern Magic
Recently I got notice from the publisher that the book Northern Magic, originally published in 1992, was being discontinued. The book has been a steady seller for over thirty years and has been a favorite of many of my readers for a long time. It broke new magical ground on many topics (galdrastafir-magic, hex-magic, use of the younger futhark in magic and all of which has spawned many new and often excellent books by other authors. The third edition will retain the accessible prose style of the original without sacrificing precision or insight. I will also introduce at least two more practical modes of Germanic magic in the third edition.
Recent months, despite a relatively high level of productivity (Gothick Meditations at Midnight and The Reform of Life) has in many ways lagged behind what could have been due to drains on time and energy of late. Gothick Meditations at Midnight has still not found its readership. It is meant for those magicians who love horror films and tales of the uncanny, as well as fans of horror films and literature who have come to believe that there is something beyond the surface which can be discovered and understood. One of the books I am most proud of that has recently been published and subsequently improved (as to typos, etc.) is THE REFORM OF LIFE, which is about the whole development of alternative viewpoints on life in the German-speaking areas of Central Europe between 1880 and 1933.
Back to the topic of NORTHERN MAGIC: So, it is my intention to create a third edition of this book. It will be thoroughly revised and updated with more complete bibliography and material from various researches I have done over the past thirty years. The style will remain accessible, but the material will go deeper in many respects. I plan to introduce a few new sections on interesting more magical techniques the student can implement.
